Green Drain Cleaning Tips for Your Kitchen and Bathroom

Keeping your kitchen and bathroom drains clean is important for anyone who doesn’t want to deal with costly and time-consuming home repairs. Fortunately, the people at Rooter-Man Plumbers, the leading drain cleaning service in Tomball are willing to share some of their DIY drain cleaning tips.

Keeping your drains clean doesn’t take long and doesn’t cost much. In fact, it is a necessary part of being a responsible homeowner. Many people avoid this task, however, because they believe it means filling their house with smelly and sometimes dangerous chemicals. In fact, there are a variety of green drain cleaning options that can be made from ingredients that you probably already have in your home.

Start by mixing a one to one solution of vinegar and water. Depending on the amount of blockage in your drains, you’ll want to make between two liters and a gallon of this solution for each drain. Pour the entire amount down the drain then wait fifteen minutes. This solution is best for getting rid of small blockages that slow down a drain but don’t completely block it up.

If that solution doesn’t work, mix together two tablespoons of corn syrup, three tablespoons of lemon juice, and one cup of rubbing alcohol. Once mixed together, pour this solution into a one gallon jug and fill the jug up to the top with warm water. Pour the entire mixture down the drain. The rubbing alcohol will work to sterilize the drain and remove any build-up, while the lemon juice and syrup work together to cover up the smell.

Of course, no regimen of do-it-yourself drain cleaning can take of every problem with your pipes. If you have a problem that you can’t solve on your own, Rooter-Man Plumbers of Tomball will be happy to help. Call today at (281) 351-4422.
