Picking the Right Faucet Replacement in Tomball & North Houston

A kitchen or bathroom remodel is never complete without a new faucet. Whether you’re embarking on a top-to-bottom plumbing remodel or just replacing an old, dripping faucet, you’ll want to make sure that you choose the faucet that’s right for your household.  There are more options out there today than there ever have been before, so making a decision can be a daunting task. Many people just choose the most inexpensive faucet or the one that will look most aesthetically pleasing, but there are actually many things you should consider when selecting a faucet.

Questions to Ask Yourself (or a Plumber) When Choosing a Faucet

  • Which finish would look best in my bathroom or kitchen? Of course you want to choose a finish that you like and that will complement the other features in the room, but take this a step further by choosing a finish that will continue to look good over the years. There are many finishes to choose from including pewter, polished brass, gold plating, stainless steel, chrome, brushed chrome, and powder-coated enamel. Steer away from finishes that are likely to tarnish such as brass.
  • How many faucet handles do I prefer? These days many people are opting to have a single handle that controls both the hot and cold water. But you could also choose two handles mounted with the spout or two handles mounted separately from the spout. Generally, a widespread faucet (with the two handles mounted separately) will cost more money, but some people like the aesthetic appeal.
  • Does the faucet have quality interior components? Even a faucet that is beautiful and stylish on the outside could have cheap, plastic components on the inside. Because your faucet will be turned on and off many times a day, you’ll need it to be durable. You’ll also want to have a good valve inside that will prevent extreme changes in water temperature when you switch from cold to hot water. It is difficult to determine what’s on the inside of a faucet if you are inexperienced with plumbing fixtures. At Rooter-Man Plumbers, we’ve been repairing and installing faucets for many years and can help you sort out the good from the bad.
  • How long is the faucet’s warranty? Some faucets will come with lifetime protection against water leaks. The fact is nothing lasts forever, so the longer the warranty, the better.
